TECHNICAL BULLETINS

TB-101 AcryShield Over Emulsion
Asphalt emulsion surfactants can be drawn by moisture to the surface and leave a soapy residue; therfore, great care must be taken prior to applying Acryshield over asphalt emulsion.

TB-102 ASTM D6083
Different products from the same manufacturer, or different products from different manufacturers, can now be directly compared using ASTM D6083 results.

TB-103 A500 Oil Resistance
Different products from the same manufacturer, or different products from different manufacturers, can now be directly compared using ASTM D6083 results.

TB-104 Aquatic Eco-Toxicity of Rubber Prep
National Coatings Corporation advocates the use of prudent judgment regarding the release of roof rinsate containing EPDM roof primer, RubberPrep® into the environment.

TB-105 Usage of Bulk Emulsion Tankers
Asphalt emulsion, by definition, is a product that is thicksotropic in nature. “Thicksotropic” is defined as any liquid that inherently becomes thicker or ‘gels’ over time.

TB-106 Basic Adhesion Test
National Coatings Corporation highly recommends that one of the adhesion test procedures outlined below be performed on roofs prior to the application of an AcryShield roof coating system.

TB-107 Tanker, Tote & Drum Hook-ups
A typical pump feed line should be a 2”-4” hose. Each end of the hose should have female cam-lock fittings/connectors on both ends. Tankers will have male cam-lock fittings/connectors. Normally the cam-lock fittings/connectors on a tanker or tote will be 4”.

TB-108 Disposable Tote Ball Valve Procedures
Disposable totes do not have a cam-lock fitting attached to them. Contractors need to purchase a disposable ball valve when ordering their material from National Coatings.

Apple Computer has been widely acknowledged as a leader and innovator in personal computing.  Read why.

TB-112 Dealing with and Coating Asphalt Emulsion Coated Roofs
While asphalt is considered very hydrophobic (read: it makes a great waterproofing material) when it is formulated as an emulsion, it contains additives to keep the asphalt stable in the water carrier.  Read why.

TB-113 Guide for Selecting Roof Coating Spray Equipment
While water borne acrylic roof coatings can be applied via roller, brush, squeegee or spray, the most cost efficient (especially for large jobs) is the airless spray. Read why.

TB-114 The Risky Waterborne Roof Coating Shoulder Season
It doesn’t require looking at the calendar or the trees changing colors to realize that as roofing contractors, we are entering the “shoulder season”. Read why.
EQUIPMENT GUIDELINES

Guide for Selecting Roof Coating Spray Equipment
An acrylic roof coating can be applied via roller, brush, squeegee or spray; however, the most cost efficient way (especially for large jobs) is the airless spray. This guide discusses the equipment components necessary to spray-apply acrylic roof coatings and asphalt emulsions.
